Domestic violence knows no borders and can take on many forms from the abuser to manipulate and control his victim.

I am victim of domestic violence if

  • He shouts to intimidate me
  • He humiliates and criticizes me in public
  • He calls me names such as “whore,” “bitch,” “stupid,” “crazy” "ugly cow"
  • He orders me around
  • He forces me to have sex
  • He forces me to engage in sexual practices I don’t like
  • He throws, breaks and hit me with objects in the house when he’s angry
  • He threatens to seriously hurt or kill me
  • He threatens to harm my family or my children
  • He insults my loved ones and forbids me from seeing them
  • He shoves me and shakes me
  • He pushes me against the wall
  • He pushes me down the stairs
  • He hits me when I'm pregnant
  • He hits me and slaps me
  • He uses weapons to threaten me or hurt me
  • He is suspicious and controls who I see
  • He tries to strangle me
  • He watches my every step
  • He criticizes and denigrates my religious beliefs
  • He ignores me and refuses to speak to me if I do something he doesn’t like
  • He puts me down in front of the children and tells them that I am not a good mother
  • He forbids me from doing certain things, like leaving the house
  • He controls my telephone, my social medias and my emails
  • He criticizes my clothes and my appearance
  • He takes my money and does not give me enough to support myself and my children
  • He uses my money for his own needs and doesn’t give me access to it
